Care You Can Keep Simple.
Use this guide for routine upkeep. Stop if access is difficult, you’re unsure of a step, or the owner manual calls for a technician.
01 /Check Your Air Filter
Check the filter regularly and follow the manufacturer’s replacement or cleaning schedule. Dust, pets, and heavy system use can affect how quickly it gets dirty.
- Find the homeowner accessible filter location in your owner manual.
- Turn the system off at the thermostat before changing an accessible filter.
- Match the specified filter size and type. Align its airflow arrow with the direction indicated by your equipment.
- Close the filter access properly before restarting the system.
Never run the system without its required filter. If access requires opening a service cabinet or reaching wiring, leave it to a technician.
02 /Keep Vents Clear
Keep furniture, curtains, and rugs away from supply vents and return grilles. Dust accessible grille surfaces gently. Don’t close many vents to try to redirect comfort to one room; ask us about airflow concerns.
03 /Give the Outdoor Unit Space
Keep loose leaves, grass clippings, and stored items away from the unit. Follow the manufacturer’s clearance requirements.
Do not reach through the grille, remove panels, wash electrical components, or use a pressure washer. Leave coil cleaning, internal debris removal, and electrical access to a technician.
04 /Check Thermostat Settings
Confirm the selected heating or cooling mode, temperature, and schedule. If your thermostat uses homeowner replaceable batteries, follow its manual. Don’t change wiring or installer settings.
05 /Notice Changes Early
Make a note of unusual noise, weak airflow, condensation, leaks, or comfort changes. Record when they happen and any thermostat message so you can explain the concern when calling.
If the system freezes or leaks, stop using it and call for guidance. Don’t chip off ice or repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.
06 /Keep Professional Visits on the Calendar
Homeowner care complements professional inspections. Our annual maintenance agreement includes two visits, priority scheduling, and qualifying repair benefits.
